Business As Usual

I just received a rejection from 5x5; I’d already submitted to Fence and Tin House in (anticipatory) reaction. Not sure when I’ll get to draft a new poem, because this is going to be a very busy week, but I’ve got a few ideas flitting around.

Preliminary animation for the poem video I’d been working on is complete. I can’t promise I won’t change a lot when I come back to it in a few days, but right now I’m pretty happy with it. If I can stay awake long enough, tonight I hope to record the voiceover, and then tomorrow night I’ll talk with my musician friend about improvising four minutes of music to lay under it. This was fun, and if it all works out well, maybe I’ll do more and post them. I think it’d be loads better than the “here’s a video of me reading a poem I wrote” sort of thing that seems to be the norm. (It’s also a perfect excuse not to be writing; I can never have enough of those.)

I did write a few paragraphs of a short story for Machine of Death 2, but there’s scads more to do yet. There’s over a month until the deadline, however.

And I just bought the latest issues of The Normal School and The Inman Review. Because obviously I don’t have enough stuff to read...
